Scanner Feed
to the Dallas Ambulance, Fire & Police Live scanner feed
This live scanner feed is currently running on a Radio Shack Pro-2051, 1000 Channel, Triple-Trunking Desktop Scanner and is fed via a 1/8" stereo audio patch cable into a Soundblaster Live! sound card on adedicated Intel Pentium-3 850Mhz computer with 512MB RAM and a 30 GB hard drive running Red Hat Linux. For this scanner feed, the 24kb mono audio stream is using Lame MP3 to encode the audio that is fed into Darkice which streams the audio to ScanAmerica's Icecast server. In order to be able to listen to this audio stream you will need to have a compatible media player installed on your computer. Some of the more popular compatible audio clients includes: ITunes (Mac OS and Windows), VLC Media Player (Linux, Mac OS and Windows), Winamp (Windows) or XMMS (Linux).
